AMERICA’S OLDEST FAMILY OF WINEMAKERS
From the preeminent producers of Cabernet Franc in the US comes this Cabernet Franc from the Livermore Valley..
Fruit Sources Cabernet Franc – Ghielmetti Vineyard (Altamont District), planted in 1999, 1000 feet above sea level in the eastern foothills of the Livermore Valley. Clone 332 (ENTAV), and Clone 5 from the Cresta Blanca vineyard located on the western edge of the appellation. Vinification Harvested October 30th – November 1st each vineyard block was fermented separately in multiple open-topped 1.75-ton bins and inoculated for primary fermentation with CSM and GRE yeast strains. Punched-down 2-3 times per day for extraction, the wines were pressed off after 27 days of maceration. They were then aged in neutral French oak puncheons to limit the flavors and aromas of wood. After 6 months in oak, each barrel was evaluated for inclusion in our hallmark wine, the final blend was made and rebarreled for another four months. Tasting Notes As is typical of the Steven Kent style, this stunning wine shows all the beauty and complexity that Cab Franc is prized for: alluring dark fruit shaded by aromas of smoked paprika and dried bay leaf and sage. Abundant acidity carries the flavors through the palate to a long finish and serves as a great springboard to pairing with all kinds of cuisine. This wine should be enjoyed on release and will age gracefully for 5-10 years. Alcohol: 13.5% Cases: 1006 Released: June 1, 2025
