AMERICA’S OLDEST FAMILY OF WINEMAKERS
2023 VINCERE, LIVERMORE VALLEY The first vintage of this Super-Tuscan homage was made in 2000 for guests at a wine dinner in West Palm Beach, FL. The response was so definitively positive that we have been making it ever since.
THE HOME RANCH VINEYARD, our estate site, has been the predominant fruit source since Vincere’s inception. In 2023, a small amount of clone 30 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Casa de Viñas vineyard, 1.0 miles east, provided a leavening bright black cherry fruit note to the blend.
EACH BLOCK OF FRUIT WAS HARVESTED SEPARATELY, and the final blend was made after a half-dozen mock blends were considered and discarded. The winemaking team was intent on making a wine that showcased an old world rusticity carried aloft on the red fruit and acidity of Sangiovese coupled with the contribution of dark-fruited and tannic Cabernet Sauvignon to provide the structure for long-term aging.
The 2023 GROWING SEASON was cooler than 2022, somewhat similar to 2021 and 2025 with the net effect of producing wines that coupled mid-palate richness with great acid-driven length. Both the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon show more elegance and transparency here than in the bracketing vintages.
The MIRASSOU FAMILY is the oldest family of winemakers in the US. Seven generations have been fortunate enough to have worked in the vineyards and cellars of California to produce wines that, even if in only a small way, change people’s lives.
